About the course

Icelandic courses are based on the Curriculum of Icelandic for Foreigners published by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.

If you have finished the first level or acquired the basics in Icelandic you can pass on to level 2. At level 2 vocabulary is expanded with the aim of students becoming capable of using simple sentences relating to everyday life. Speaking, understanding, reading and writing are practiced with the emphasis on speaking through diverse learning methods. Further grammar is strategically added to what was learned in level 1.* Participants will be evaluated at the end of the course and advised on further Icelandic studies.

Attendance required: 75%

A registered student is required to move to a different level / course, if necessary.

Please note that the course can only start if the minimum participation requirement is met.

What you need to know if you sign up for an online course:

•  All study material is online material
• Requires basic computer skills of students and a computer
• Requires basic skills in English
• Requires more study independence of students
• Part time online with teacher - part time self study with support from teacher

*Each course is adapted to the relative group of individuals and emphasis may therefore slightly vary between student groups. A placement test prior to the course is included in the course fee for those who need an assessment of their learning level.

Upplýsingar á íslensku

Þetta námskeið er framhald af fyrsta stigi og hentar einnig þeim sem hafa öðlast grunnfærni í íslensku. Orðaforði er aukinn með það að markmiði að nemendur verði færir um að nota einfaldar setningar  sem tengjast daglegu lífi. Tal, skilningur, lestur og skrift er æft með áherslu á daglegt mál með fjölbreyttum kennsluaðferðum. Aukið er við málfræðikunnáttu á skipulagðan hátt í tengslum við námsefnið.* Kunnátta þátttakenda er metin í lok námskeiðsins og þeim veitt ráðgjöf um næstu skref í íslenskunámi sínu.

Nauðsynlegt er að ljúka 75% mætingu til að fá útskriftarskírteini.

Athugaðu að námskeið er einungis haldið ef lágmarksþátttaka næst. 

*Hvert námskeið er aðlagað viðkomandi nemendahópi og geta því áherslur verið mismunandi milli hópa. Stöðumat í upphafi námskeiðs er innifalið í námskeiðsgjaldinu fyrir þá sem þess þurfa til að vita hvaða stig hentar þeim í íslenskunáminu.
